Conflict-Free Diamond Policy

By definition, conflict are “diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognised governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments, or in contravention of the decisions of the Security Council.” Thanks to The Kimberley Process, the amount of conflict Diamonds on mainstream markets has decreased to only 1%, compared to 15% in the 1990s. As of 2013, there are 54 countries currently participating in the Kimberley Process, including major suppliers and importers such as South Africa, Canada, Russia, Botswana, the EU, India, Namibia, Israel, Congo, the United States of America, South Africa, China and Angola.

The Kimberley Process

Steven Stone goes beyond the Kimberley Process to guarantee it only trades with conflict free, ethically sourced diamonds. We have been using the most reputable diamond suppliers for decades and in collaboration with them, we ensure our diamonds are sourced under strict environmental standards and that the United Nations’ human rights regulations are followed rigorously. GIA certification is another pledge that our diamonds are ethically sourced, in accordance with all European and international laws and regulations. We are committed to continuously working to the highest ethical and industry standards.
